How to Deploy an Alibaba Cloud Server ECS Instance

Sign in to Alibaba Cloud after creating an account.

Select Console.

Select the navigation icon in the top-left corner of the screen.

Navigate to Elastic Compute Service and select Elastic Compute Service.

Select the Create ECS Instance button.

For Billing Method, select a billing method.

For Region, select a location for the proxy server.

For Instance Type, select a pricing plan.

For Image, select either Ubuntu 18.04 or Ubuntu 20.04.

Deselect Security Hardening.

Select the Next: Networking button.

For Network Type, select VPC.

For Public IP Address, select Assign Public IP Address.

For Security Group, select create a security group.

For Security Group Name, type GhostCompute.

For Network, select VPC.

Select Inbound.

Delete the current security rules.

Select the Add Rule button.

For Action, select Allow.

For Protocol Type, select All.

For Authorization Object, select 0.0.0.0/0.

Select Save.

Select Outbound.

Delete the current security rules.

Select the Add Rule button.

For Action, select Allow.

For Protocol Type, select All.

For Authorization Object, select 0.0.0.0/0.

Select Save.

Select the Create Security Group button.

Navigate back to the ECS instance tab and select Reselect Security Group.

Select the GhostCompute security group.

Select the Select button.

Select the Next: System Configurations button.

For Logon Credentials, select Password.

For Logon Password, type a strong root SSH password.

Select the Preview button.

Finish creating the instance by selecting the Create Order button.

Type this SSH command, but with the actual id_rsa file path from ssh-keygen and IP address from the virtual server instance.

ssh -i ~/./ssh/id_rsa root@10.20.30.40

Press Enter.

The command line will ask the following question.

Are you sure you want to continue connecting?

Type yes and press Enter to connect to the server.
